Loyalty, Love & Vermouth | Book Signing
IN-PERSON BOOK SIGNING
DECEMBER 5 | 10 AM - 12 NOON
Eric Peterson, a playwright and longtime columnist with Letters from CAMP Rehoboth, will sign copies of his debut novel “Loyalty, Love & Vermouth,” from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5, at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
While most of the book is set in the Washington, D.C. area, key scenes take place in Rehoboth Beach, and some of the highly fictionalized characters may be recognizable to locals.
Based on a gripping true story, the novel is fast-paced and humorous. Based on the Washington Post headline, “The Case of the Purloined Pooch,” the book combines the true story of a dognapping along with wry contemporary fiction about a group of friends, loyal, campy and fun, banding together to help one of their own in a time of crisis.
The story introduces readers to Charlie Vernon who, after a bitter and humiliating breakup, lives not-quite-alone in his townhouse on Capitol Hill. He kept his beloved dog Mamie, the cockapoo that he and Freddie adopted together, but he arrives home to find he’s been visited by thieves...and they’ve taken Mamie.
For the next 36 hours, he and his family of choice – a pair of rhyming lesbians, a Georgia-born man who might be married to a sex addict, and the hostess of DC’s hottest Drag Bingo – will band together to search for Mamie. What’s at stake isn’t just a cherished pet, but whether Charlie will be brave enough to love anything or anyone ever again.
