Book Discussion and Book Signing | César Brioso
César Brioso will appear to discuss his book Last Seasons in Havana,
Saturday, August 24, 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Last Seasons in Havana focuses on the final seasons of the Cuban League and the Class AAA Havana Sugar Kings during the late 1950s and early 1960s. After Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba on January 1, 1959, relations between the United States and Cuba rapidly deteriorated. As a result professional baseball, which had existed on the island since 1878, became one of the victims of Castro’s Communist revolution.
César Brioso is a digital producer and former baseball editor for USA Today Sports. In his twenty-five years as a sports journalist, he has written for the Miami Herald and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He is the author of Havana Hardball: Spring Training, Jackie Robinson, and the Cuban League.
Copies of Last Seasons in Havana will be available for purchase and Mr. Brioso will sign.
